Born in Belgium 1973, Veronique Branquinho’s childhood dream was to be a ballerina. From 1991 to 1995 she studied at the Royal Academy of Antwerp, going on to show her first collection in Paris in Spring/Summer 1998. In that same year, Branquinho was awarded the VH1 Fashion Award for best new designer. A role as womenswear designer at Ruffo Research followed. She designed for Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter 1999 collections. She has also participated in numerous exhibitions: Biennale Della Moda in Florence (1998), Colette in Paris (1999), Flemish Fashion: Design From Belgium at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York (2001). For the Documenta 11 exhibition in Kassel, Germany (June 2002), Branquinho created a white raincoat in a limited edition of 300. In 2003, Branquinho launched her first men’s collection in Paris and opened her first flagship store in Antwerp.
