我不觉得四肢有重量。我不会太过在意衣服贴在皮肤上的感受。……我知道这一切仍在发生中——只是我不再注意这些事情罢了。 换言之,对我的大脑来说,今天只是另一个在普通不过的日子。 大脑让我们忽视太过持续的输入信息。不然,我们会花所有时间在想着手怎么那么重、衣服感觉起来怎么是这个样子……结果反而无法专心于手边的任务。

原本注视的物体消失,而后有个短暂间隔才出现下一个物体,就像释放对眼睛的锁定,反应时间会缩短。这个现象称为间隙效应(gap effect)
