不要因为退步而受挫,一些迷恋就是会经历数年的时间才会消失:这倒并非意志力薄弱的表现,而是在迷恋的体验中,有一些东西触及了病人非常深层次的东西。试着去理解这种沉溺在病人内心生活中所扮演的关键角色。我自己相信,迷醉的爱通常只是一种分心,可以使病人从更为痛苦的事情上转移。或迟或早,我会希望自己能够问病人这样的问题:如果你不再沉溺于……你会开始想什么?

把重点放在爱情的状态中而不是放在被爱的人身上是有好处的。如此强大的是体验、是爱的情感状态,而不是具体的人。"人爱自己的欲望,而不是被欲望的东西"。
