斯科特·普劳斯（Scott Plous）是韦斯利安的大学心理学教授，他以“最高荣誉”从明尼苏达大学毕业，并在斯坦福大学获博士学位。他还在斯坦福做了两年的政治心理学博士后研究，并有伊利诺伊大学做了两年的访问学者。 斯科特·普劳斯现在的研究兴趣集中在有关动物和环境的道德问题上，1991年，他发表了针对动物权利保护者的在样本调查结果，现在，他正在编辑一个有关人类社会中动物所扮演角色的专题，除了这些学术工作外，普劳斯还是大量政治和商业项目的顾问。 施俊琦，浙江桐乡人，北京大学心理学系讲师，博士。主要研究领域：消费行为学、行为经济学和行为金融学。

对于那些简单的、熟练的行为，人们在旁观的时候通常能做的更好；但对于复杂的、还未掌握好的技能，人们在旁观时则会表现较差。 社会性懈怠效应的出现是因为处于群体中时人们不会像独自行动时那样直接感觉到自己的努力和最终结果之间的关系。与这个差异相关的是，对最终结果所担负的责任会在群体成员之间分散，而独立行动时个体要对结果负全部责任。
如果你希望一个人形成对某个事物的积极态度，那么就引导他，使他致力于得到这个事物。如果你希望一个人对某种错误行为的道德判断变得温和一些，那么就引诱他做出这种行为。相反，如果你希望一个人对某种错误行为的道德判断更加强硬，那么就引诱他，但不足以使他做出这一行为。
