彼得·诺维克（Peter Novick）出生于1934年，是美国著名的历史学家，曾在芝加哥大学等多所大学任教。他的著作包括《抵抗运动与维希政府》（The Resistance Versus Vichy, 1968）、《美国生活中的大屠杀》（The Holocaust: in American Life, 1999；此书在美国之外的地区则以《大屠杀与集体记忆》为名发行）等等。后者使得诺维克大大地出名，成为公众注目的人物，因为这部有关德国犹太人大屠杀记忆的详实历史分析著作，特别关注大屠杀被构造、被植入集体记忆的政治过程和特定历史社会因素，由此备受争议，在各色犹太人团体当中更是一片批评之声，引发范围极广的大屠杀讨论。
