作者简介

Norman Lewis(1912——2006年)出生于纽约布鲁克林(Brooklyn,New York),他毕业于美国哥伦比亚大学,他是美国英语语言领域的权威专家,英语文法专家,和词典编撰者。还在哥伦比亚大学求学期间,他就写了他的第一本书《通往世界的旅程》(Journeys Through Wordland),后来成了六年级的教科书。

他先后执教于纽约大学(New York University)、纽约城市学院(City College of New York)、深河学院(Rio Hondo College)。

他一生编著了63本书,其中以Word power made easy,30 Days to a More Powerful Vocabulary,和Roget's New Pocket Thesaurus in Dictionary Form三本最为畅销。

在1978年,在接受《时代》周刊的访问时,他说由他校订的Roget's New Pocket Thesaurus in Dictionary Form简直“卖疯”了,狂销500万本。
